The Department for Culture, Media and Sport, faced with a number of accommodation challenges, commissioned us to carry out various feasibility studies which ultimately led to an appointment for space planning, design and management of the refurbishment of the department's central London headquarters.
The refurbishment process includes a thorough upgrade of both mechanical and electrical services, as well as improvements to existing IT infrastructure, to facilitate the relocation of operational groups and ICT services from other premises. We will manage all of the change on a phased basis with the client still in occupation.
DCMS is taking this opportunity to move from a traditional mixed cellular and open plan workstyle to a predominantly open working environment with a range of central and local meeting facilities, breakout and informal meeting spaces.
Once complete, the refurbished building will provide the department with a far more flexible and stimulating working environment that will offer opportunities for futureproofing not possible in the previous space.
