Liberty Mutual, the international insurance company, has seen considerable growth in the last few years. We initially worked with Liberty in 2001 to manage an expansion into additional space taken at their City of London headquarters in Minster Court. Further growth in the business in 2004 then resulted in the need for more space, which led to a decision to relocate to a different floor within the building.
The project involved a total re-examination of Liberty's accommodation needs, how space was to be used, and how different functions in the organisation were to be supported. In our design work, we developed a fresh approach to projecting the company's corporate values to visitors and staff through the workspace.
Constraints were imposed by an irregular shaped floor and lack of natural light to one side of the building. With the use of natural colour schemes, unbroken sightlines, clever lighting, glazing, well-chosen furniture and fittings, and contemporary artwork, the area was transformed into an impressive and effective work environment.
